The Carers’ Support Service is the main port of call for Carers in Northern and North East Lincolnshire. There is a range of free and confidential practical and emotional support on offer.

The Carers’ Support Centre for North East Lincolnshire is open to Visitors:

Young Carers’ Service – Carers’ Support Service

 

Criteria: Young Carers (to age 17)

Key worker support, groups and activities.

A Young Carer may do some or all the following:

·       Practical tasks, such as cooking, housework and shopping

·       Physical care, such as lifting, helping a parent on stairs or with physiotherapy

·       Personal care, such as dressing, washing, helping with toileting needs

·       Managing the family budget, collecting benefits and prescriptions

·       Administering medication

·       Looking after or “parenting” younger siblings

·       Emotional support

·       Interpreting, due to a hearing or speech impairment or because English is not the family’s first language

Young Carer’s Assessment

A child or young person has the right to be assessed for support when they have the responsibility of helping to care for a parent or significant adult in his/her life.

 

At the end of the assessment, there will be an agreement with the family about what help can be offered from either Social Services or another agency and a plan on how to meet the needs of the Young Carer.

 

(note that parental consent is required for a referral to the service)

Support to look at finances, housing, wellbeing, employment, activities, etc. The service is accessed via self-referral or referral from a professional

Single Point of Access (SPA)

Criteria:

Residents of North East Lincolnshire

Information/signposting for yourself or the cared for person. Formal carer assessments

Option 1: For Health Related Matters

You should call Single Point of Access if:

·       You need medical help fast, but it is not a 999 emergency

·       You think you need to go to accident and emergency or another NHS urgent care service

·       You do not know who to call for medical help or you do not have a GP to call

·       You require health information or reassurance about what to do next

·       For less urgent health needs, you should still contact your GP in the usual way.

Option 2: For Adult Social Care or Therapy Enquiries

SPA is also for enquiries about adult social care (if you or a relative need some extra support at home, for example).   Formal Carers Assessments

 

 

Option 3: For Mental Health advice and support

You can also use this number in the daytime for general advice and support around your mental wellbeing and during the evening/overnight people can access the Mental Health Crisis Service by calling the same number.
